Thank you for shopping with AfroLamps.
Because each lamp requires final assembly, inspection and testing before dispatch, we take care to ensure that your AfroLamp is properly prepared before it leaves us.
This Shipping & Delivery Policy explains our processing, dispatch and delivery arrangements.
1. Shipping Within South Africa
Processing & Dispatch
Although our current collection consists of ready-made lamps, each lamp undergoes a final preparation process before dispatch.
Please allow up to 5 working days for dispatch after payment has been confirmed.
This period allows us to:
- complete the final assembly;
- inspect the wooden base and lampshade;
- check the lamp holder and electrical components;
- perform the necessary electrical checks;
- ensure that the lamp is correctly assembled;
- carefully package the lamp for transportation.
We may dispatch an order sooner where possible.
Delivery
Once your order has been dispatched, delivery time will depend on your location and the courier service used.
Estimated South African delivery:
2–5 working days after dispatch.
Delivery to remote or outlying areas may take longer.
Tracking
Where tracking is available, your tracking information will be provided once your order has been dispatched.
Please allow some time for the courier’s tracking system to update after collection.
2. International Shipping
AfroLamps offers international shipping to selected destinations.
Estimated Delivery
International delivery times vary depending on the destination, courier, customs procedures and other factors outside our control.
As a general indication, international delivery may take approximately:
7–21 working days after dispatch.
This estimate does not include the AfroLamps processing and dispatch period of up to 5 working days.
Customs, Duties & Taxes
International customers are responsible for any:
- customs duties;
- import taxes;
- customs clearance charges;
- local taxes; or
- other charges imposed by the destination country.
These charges are determined by the destination country’s authorities and are outside AfroLamps’ control.
Customers are responsible for ensuring that the products can legally be imported into their country.
International Shipping Costs
International shipping costs are calculated according to the destination, package dimensions, weight and shipping service available.
The applicable shipping cost will be displayed at checkout where available.
3. Packaging
AfroLamps takes particular care when packaging lamps because our products contain both natural wooden components and lampshades that require protection during transportation.
Depending on the product, the shade and wooden base may be packaged separately within the same shipment.
Protective packaging materials are used to reduce the risk of movement, impact and damage during transportation.
Where possible, we aim to use packaging materials that are recyclable or otherwise environmentally responsible.
4. Delivery Damage
If your package arrives visibly damaged, please take photographs of:
- the outer packaging;
- any visible damage to the packaging;
--the lamp and affected components; and
--the internal packaging materials.
Please contact us as soon as reasonably possible at: support@afrolamps.co.za
Include your order number and photographs so that we can assess the situation and assist you.
Please retain the packaging and damaged product until we advise you whether it is required for inspection or the courier’s claims process.
Your rights regarding defective or damaged goods are not limited by a requirement to notify us within a particular 48-hour period.
5. Delayed or Lost Deliveries
Once an order has been handed to the courier, delivery is subject to the courier’s network, operating conditions and delivery procedures.
If your order appears to be delayed or cannot be located, please contact us with your order number and tracking information.
We will assist in communicating with the courier and investigating the delivery status.
Delivery estimates are provided as guidance and may be affected by circumstances outside AfroLamps’ control, including:
- severe weather;
- public holidays;
- courier delays;
- incorrect or incomplete addresses;
- customs processing;
- remote-area delivery;
- transport disruptions; or
- other unforeseen circumstances.
6. Incorrect Delivery Information
Please check your delivery details carefully before completing your order.
If you provide an incorrect or incomplete address, please contact us as soon as possible.
If the order has not yet been dispatched, we will try to correct the information.
If the parcel has already been dispatched or returned to us because of incorrect delivery information supplied by the customer, additional delivery charges may apply.
7. Remote & Outlying Areas
Some remote or outlying destinations may have:
- longer delivery times;
- additional delivery charges; or
- limited courier availability.
If we are unable to deliver to the address provided, we will contact you to discuss an alternative delivery arrangement.
If a suitable alternative cannot be arranged, we will discuss the available options with you.
8. Orders That Cannot Be Delivered
If a shipment is returned to AfroLamps because the customer:
- provided an incorrect address;
- failed to provide required delivery information; or
- was unavailable to receive the delivery after reasonable delivery attempts,
additional shipping costs may apply if the order needs to be sent again.
9. Delivery & Consumer Rights
Nothing in this Shipping & Delivery Policy is intended to limit any rights you may have under applicable South African consumer protection law.
