Founded in South Africa, AfroLamps was born from a desire to bring the warmth of African heritage into modern homes. Our lamps are crafted with care: from the wooden bases shaped through a combination of precision machining and skilled craftsmanship, to the bold, vibrant shades inspired by traditional attire worn across the continent.

AfroLamps draws inspiration from the rich visual traditions found across South Africa. Colours, patterns, textiles, clothing and decorative arts provide inspiration for our Cultural Collection.
Our shades do not claim to reproduce traditional garments. Instead, AfroLamps translates elements of cultural visual expression into contemporary lighting, creating designs that honour heritage while fitting beautifully into modern spaces.
CRAFTED FROM WOOD
Every AfroLamp begins with the base. Carefully prepared sections of wood are assembled and bonded together, then shaped using precision machinery such as wood turning, before being refined and finished by skilled craftsmen.
Different wooden forms and finishes give each lamp its own character, from elegant spindle silhouettes to rounded urns and sculptural pedestal forms.
The base and shade are then brought together as one finished lamp a balance of form, function and story.
