Anika brings together handcrafted wood and a shade inspired by the textile and clothing traditions associated with Afrikaner heritage.
The cone-shaped wooden base gives the lamp a clean, sculptural presence. Its 2-Tone Burnt Mahogany finish combines contrasting warm wood tones, highlighting the natural character of the handcrafted base and giving the lamp a rich, sophisticated appearance.
Above it, the cone shade introduces a softer and more expressive character. Its pink-and-white Scotch check patterncreates a delicate textile appearance, bringing colour and visual texture to the design.
The cultural inspiration behind Anika comes from historical Afrikaner clothing, where women’s dress traditionally included dresses, lace, bonnets and aprons. The Kappie, a distinctive head covering associated with Boer women, is also part of this clothing heritage.
AfroLamps does not reproduce a traditional garment. Instead, Anika takes inspiration from this heritage of fabric, dress and feminine detail and translates it into a contemporary lampshade.
The result is a lamp that connects historical cultural inspiration with modern interior design.
When illuminated, the patterned shade creates a warm, gentle glow, while the dark handcrafted wood provides contrast and grounding.
