At AfroLamps, we take care in producing and preparing each lamp for delivery.
Our lamps combine natural wood, precision turning, careful assembly and hand-finishing, so every piece has its own character.
This policy explains our voluntary returns process and should be read together with your rights under applicable South African consumer protection law.

1. Change-of-Mind Returns

For a change-of-mind return, AfroLamps accepts returns of eligible ready-made lamps where:
- You contact us within 7 days of receiving your order.
- The lamp has not been used or installed.
- The lamp is returned in its original condition.
- The original packaging and accessories are included where reasonably possible.
- You provide proof of purchase.

Change-of-mind returns are subject to the conditions of this policy.

2. Products That Cannot Be Returned for Change of Mind

Our voluntary change-of-mind return policy does not apply to:

- Custom-made or bespoke products;
- Products made specifically to a customer’s specifications;
- Products that have been used, installed, modified or damaged after delivery;
- Products damaged through improper handling or care; or
- Other products that are legally excluded from return under applicable law.

Important: Excluding a product from our voluntary change-of-mind policy does not remove any statutory consumer rights that may apply if the product is defective, unsafe, or otherwise fails to meet applicable legal requirements.

3. Defective, Damaged or Incorrect Products

If your AfroLamp arrives:

- damaged;
- defective;
- unsafe;
- materially different from what you ordered; or
- with missing components,

please contact us as soon as reasonably possible after discovering the problem.

Please provide:

- your order number;
- a description of the problem; and
- clear photographs where appropriate.

We will assess the issue and provide the applicable remedy in accordance with our warranty and applicable consumer protection requirements.

4. Damage During Delivery

We package our lamps carefully before dispatch.

If your lamp appears to have been damaged during delivery, please:

1. Take photographs of the external packaging before disposing of it.
2. Photograph the damaged product and relevant packaging materials.
3. Contact support@afrolamps.co.za with your order number.
4. Keep the product and packaging until we have advised you what to do next.

We will assess the damage and arrange the appropriate resolution.

5. Change-of-Mind Return Process

To request an eligible change-of-mind return:

Step 1: Email support@afrolamps.co.za with your order number and reason for the return.

Step 2: Wait for confirmation and return instructions before sending the product.

Step 3: Repackage the lamp securely using the original packaging where available.

Step 4: Send the product to the return address provided by AfroLamps.

Please do not send a return to an address without first receiving return instructions from us.

6. Return Shipping Costs

For an eligible change-of-mind return, the customer is responsible for the return shipping cost.

Where a product is returned because it is defective, damaged, unsafe, incorrect or otherwise qualifies for a remedy under applicable consumer protection law, AfroLamps will handle the return arrangements and costs in accordance with the applicable legal requirements.

7. Refunds

Once a returned product has been received and assessed, we will notify you of the outcome.

For an approved change-of-mind return, the applicable refund will be processed to the original payment method, subject to the terms of this policy.

For defective, unsafe or otherwise qualifying goods, the remedy will be handled in accordance with applicable consumer protection law.We will communicate the expected processing timeframe once the return has been assessed.

8. Exchanges

We do not currently offer direct product exchanges.

If you wish to purchase a different ready-made AfroLamp, you may place a new order.

This does not affect any statutory right to a repair, replacement or refund where applicable.

9. Natural Wood & Handmade Variations

AfroLamps uses natural wood and individually produced components.

Minor differences in:

- wood grain;
- colour and tone;
- natural markings;
- texture;
- pattern placement; and
- finishing

may occur between products.

These characteristics are not automatically defects and are part of working with natural materials.

However, a genuine manufacturing defect is not treated as a natural variation simply because the product is made from natural wood.

10. Custom & Special Orders

Custom or bespoke products will be subject to the specific terms agreed with the customer before production begins.

Our Special Order Terms & Conditions will apply once the special-order service is formally launched.

Where a custom product is defective, unsafe or otherwise subject to a statutory consumer remedy, applicable consumer protection rights will continue to apply.

11. Your Consumer Rights

Nothing in this policy is intended to exclude, restrict or waive any consumer right that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
